Volunteers who run the Hemet Museum are staging an antique show-and-tell, appraisal fundraiser Saturday, March 1, that should be interesting to watch. It could be extremely entertaining, depending on what is carried in the door.
“This is going to be fun,” said Robert Lindquist, president of the nonprofit Hemet Heritage Foundation, which oversees the operation of the museum.
I wonder if anyone’s appraisal, show-and-tell items could top my half-century-old, stuffed armadillo.
The foundation is a wise conglomeration of history related groups, including the S.O.S. (Save Our Station) organization that renovated the Historic Santa Fe Depot where the Hemet Museum is beautifully housed. The renovation of the 1914-built depot was completed about 1998. It was one of the most commendable community efforts I’ve seen. The late Bill Jennings, the late Kent Cozad and the late Ed Forcier always should be remembered for the significant roles they played in the project.
